Sustainability Aspects: Reducing energy consumption automatically without the need to change habits of employees or consumers but also offers apps and software to monitor energy consumption and savings to do change behavior

The Modlet

The Modlet from ThinkEco is a smart outlet that reduces energy waste by monitoring real-time equipment power consumption and creating an automated savings program. Plug the modlet into an existing wall outlet and then plug appliances into it. The wireless software automatically creates an energy-savings plan, automatically turning off appliances when not in use.

Plugged-in appliances make up a significant share of residential and commercial energy use today: 40% of residential, 26% of commercial on average. A lot appliances draw power all the time, even if no one is around to use them, 10-20% of the electricity bill/consumption supposed to be caused by this. For tenants, who don’t have control over HVAC and lighting systems in their offices, plug-loads are one of the only elements of their carbon footprint they can control and the modlet makes that happen easily and effectively.

To get started, simply plug the modlet into an existing electric outlet and plug your appliances into it. Then use your web browser to wirelessly monitor and manage your power consumption. The Modlet then automatically switches of the power supply at the outlet when appliances are not in use, for instance, at night, in the weekend or, in case of residential use, during the day. They say the Modlet pays itself back in 6 months.

Users can also see real-time energy use data from connected equipment and learn about plug-load management.
